The Costa Cálida, the coastline of the Region of Murcia, stretches for more than 250 kilometres along the Mediterranean and offers one of the most varied beach landscapes in southern Europe. With over 300 days of sunshine per year, mild winters and warm summers, Murcia is an ideal destination for beach lovers at any time of the year.
One of the defining features of this coastline is the presence of the Mar Menor, the largest saltwater lagoon in Europe. Separated from the open Mediterranean by the strip of land known as La Manga, the Mar Menor has calm, shallow and warmer waters, making it especially suitable for families, beginners in water sports and those seeking relaxed bathing conditions. In contrast, the Mediterranean beaches of Murcia offer open sea conditions, stronger waves and more dramatic coastal scenery, ideal for snorkelling, diving and sailing.

La Manga del Mar Menor
La Manga is a unique strip of land bordered by the Mar Menor on one side and the Mediterranean Sea on the other. This allows visitors to choose between calm lagoon waters or open-sea beaches often just a few metres apart. Mediterranean-facing beaches such as Playa de Galúa and Playa del Banco del Tabal are known for their quality and services, with some sections awarded the Blue Flag. La Manga is ideal for combining sunbathing, water sports and urban comforts.

Calblanque
The beaches of Calblanque Regional Park represent the most unspoilt coastline in Murcia. Surrounded by dunes, fossil sand formations and native vegetation, beaches such as Cala Dorada or Playa Larga offer a wild, natural experience with crystal-clear waters. There are no large urban developments here, making Calblanque perfect for visitors seeking nature, tranquillity and scenic beauty rather than services.
⚠️ During peak season, car access to the coves is not permitted. You must leave your car in a park-and-ride lot and take a shuttle bus from there.

La Azohía and Isla Plana
This stretch of coast, which belongs to the municipality of Cartagena, combines traditional fishing villages with transparent waters and rocky bottoms, ideal for snorkeling. Beaches such as Playa de San Ginés (La Azohía) and Playa de Isla Plana offer a quieter atmosphere and excellent water quality. Their proximity to Cabo Tiñoso and underwater biodiversity makes them especially attractive to divers.

Mazarrón
The coastline of Mazarrón alternates between long urban beaches and small coves. Bolnuevo, famous for its eroded rock formations, combines scenic interest with sandy beaches. Playa del Castellar and Playa del Rihuete are among the beaches that have received the Blue Flag, offering good services, accessibility and family-friendly conditions.

Calnegre
The beaches of Puntas de Calnegre, located along the Lorca coast, are among the most untouched in the region. Small coves, gravel beaches and transparent waters define this area, which remains largely free from urban development. It is ideal for visitors seeking peace, nature and a more authentic Mediterranean coastline.

Águilas
Águilas boasts one of the most diverse coastlines in Murcia, with more than 30 beaches and coves. From long urban beaches like Playa de Poniente to natural gems such as Cuatro Calas, this area offers excellent options for all types of visitors. Several beaches, including Playa de la Colonia, have been awarded the Blue Flag, reflecting their high quality and services.
